Alabama is a colorful state and is the first in alphabetical order! Alabama is a cool state. Don’t believe me? Here’s a cool fact: Mound builders built mounds of earth as high as 60 feet tall during 100 and 1450! Does that convince you? |

Bonjour Alabama!
Bonjour!
The French set up Fort Louis de la Mobile close to the Mobile River in 1702. But, someone else wanted that land. That was Great Britain. They started a war. The Treaty of Paris ended the war. France then gave Great Britain some land. After that, they were okay. |
Cheers to the North of Alabama!
In 1783, the colonies of America got independence from England in the Revolutionary War. As history goes on, the north of Alabama became a part of the U.S.A. Also, in the Revolutionary War, America got independence from Spain. Two countries wanted Alabama. (By that time England was over Alabama.) Spain and the U.S. wanted control over Alabama. |
Chief Menewa and the Red Stick Creeks
In 1813, U.S. soldiers at Fort Mims near Tensaw were attacked by Chief Menewa and the Red Stick Creeks. The Red Stick Creeks were a Native American tribe that lived in Alabama. Anyways, a lot of people were killed. But this part of history doesn't end here. |
Revenge!
Have you ever heard of General Andrew Jackson? This is where he comes in. After the Red Stick Creeks attacked, he wanted revenge. He won the battle of the Horseshoe Bend against the Red Stick Creeks. Other tribes like the White Stick Creeks, Chickasaw, Choctaw and Cherokee helped Jackson defeat the Red Stick Creeks, but they had to give up their land too. |

If I Had a Day In Alabama…
If I had one day in Alabama, I would first go see the Boll Weevil (a building made to honor the beetle that killed 99% of cotton). Then I would go see the American Indian Reservation. After that, I would go to a beach and have lunch there. Then I would take a tour bus all over Alabama. Next, I would go to a public park and sit on a park bench and have ice cream. I would also try a little of peanut butter pie. After that I would go to the space camp in Huntsville. Finally, I would go and take a final walk.
And that is what I would do if I had a day in Alabama.
